Grape growing in Ontario, explained · on the web since 2000

Wineries

Canadian wineries, by region

The rest of the country

Ontario is the largest of Canada's wine provinces but not the only one. British Columbia works to a system of Geographical Indications centred on the Okanagan Valley; Quebec has no geographic appellations at all, only two opt-in protected indications, and leans on cold-hardy hybrids the rest of the country barely plants; Nova Scotia has Tidal Bay, an appellation defined by style and tasting panel rather than by boundary. Each province page lists its wineries by growing area.

How this list was built

Every entry was compiled from the winery's own website and cross-checked against the VQA Ontario register, which lists the appellation for each licensed winery. Where a fact is not published by the winery we leave it blank rather than estimate it. Varieties link through to our pages on how each grape behaves in Ontario; the appellations are explained on the regions page, and what the boundaries mean in law on the Lake Erie North Shore and Pelee Island pages.

Corrections

If you run one of these wineries and something here is wrong or missing, tell us and we will fix it. We would rather show a blank than a guess.
