Domaine des Salamandres

Domaine des Salamandres grows grapes at Hemmingford, in the IGP-Vin du Québec appellation of Quebec. It dates its founding to 2006.

Where it sits

Domaine des Salamandres is at Hemmingford in Quebec. Quebec has no geographic appellations in the way Ontario and British Columbia do: the province recognises just two reserved wine appellations, Vin du Québec and Vin de glace du Québec, and both are certifications a producer opts into rather than places on a map. This winery holds IGP-Vin du Québec. How appellation systems differ across the country is covered on the Canadian wineries page.

What it grows

The winery works with Vidal, Seyval blanc, Geisenheim, Frontenac rouge and Frontenac gris.

Where a grape has a page here, it covers how that variety behaves in Canadian conditions: the heat it needs to ripen, the Brix it reaches, and where it is planted.

Vineyard area: 8,000 vines.

Visiting
