Summer Edition 2002
BELOW
Over 20 people participated in a field walk to access the
2002 vintage, amongst others attending were Wine Masters from
  Colio and Pelee Island Wineries.
The general consensus being that this years crop looks very good,
lots of sugar and plenty high quality grapes.

What a change the last few months have brought, from frost on the
Victoria Day weekend in May, to drought in July and August.
Through it all we still have a beautiful crop ripening in the vineyards
that will almost match the Growing Degree Accumulation of 2001.
The most southern area in Canada is always full of surprises!

Summer Edition 2001
It's summer time and "VERAISON" has arrived here in Essex County.
Veraison is the important date when the grapes start to change colour.

Above is a picture of the vinifrea variety of grape taken July 29
at the Zweigelt Vineyard on Pelee Island showing the first signs of
veraison.

Pictured below are some other varieties of grapes that are currently
undergoing veraison here in Essex County.

Viognier is a newer variety of grape and has only produced one crop so far.
The wine produced from this years harvest will be available at
Grape Tree Estate Winery at the end of July 2001.
The exciting news, is that the viognier variety seems to thrive in
 Southwestern Ontario.
