It's Winter 2001/2002.
IT'S FINALLY HAPPENING!!!
The ice wine harvest has just started in Essex County.
Pictured below are two brave souls who helped with the harvest this January 8.
It was very cold and windy as these two brave souls helped with the harvest at 6:00 A.M. at the Colio Estate vineyards in Harrow.

Master Wine Maker Carlo Negri of Colio Estate Winery gives moral support and makes sure all goes well during the first ice wine harvest of the season.

The two pictures below show grapes still not harvested because as of Jan. 2nd., the weather has not been cold enough.

What a Royal Combination, liquid gold from Essex Country and the sport of Kings...

This great shot was taken at the recently held Canadian Field Archery Association tournament. It has become a tradition for our wineries to come out and support this festive event. Illustrated are a few of the 5 bottles of fine Ice-Wine generously donated as door prices representing each of our 5 wineries. Congratulations to all the participants for making the event one to remember.
Five wineries are now located in Essex County. We managed to sneak our camera in and squeezed this gem from the most recent, Grapetree Estate Wines Inc.

Shown from right to left are Steve Brooks, his mother, and Tina Morgan.
Congratulations, and I know I'm looking forward to a more than just a taste. The Grapetree Estate Wines Inc. is located at 308 Mersea Road #3 in Leamington, Ontario.

Winter blues got you down...

Take heart, slowly the ice is breaking and will be gone.
All this snow and ice obscures the beauty beneath. Here are a couple shots taken recently.

The grapes are dormant and buried beneath a wintry blanket of snow...Sleep well my friends for the long winter will soon give rise to a beautiful spring.
